About Cell

Autophagy represents the major process for degradation of aggregated cellular proteins and dysfunctional organelles, so alterations in autophagy are involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases, like nervous system disorders.

Thanks to our high-end image processing algorithms, WimAutophagy detects cell nuclei and allocates the autophagosomes to the corresponding nuclei, in order to obtain quantitative data per individual cell. It is also optimized to distinguish between isolated and clustered autophagosomes, in order to be able to estimate the number of autophagosomes and puncta per cell.
